Usuaaly the IT companies do manual testing, in which case they will go for Automation?(ie) why Automation?

Automation is not a replacement for manual testing, more an aid and addition to it. Testing is normally the ';bottleneck'; of software development, and so to help make testers work more efficiently, automation can be used.

Automation is more expensive than pure manual testing, but in the long term can be more cost-effective. Programmers can have a higher output if the turnaround for testing is short, and sometimes conducting an entire manual retest for a small patch can be sped up using automation.
